Fight against terrorism: directory of skills
1) OBJECTIVE
To step up cooperation between the Member States in the fight against terrorism by creating a directory of skills and expertise.
2) UNION MEASURES
Joint Action 96/610/JHA of 15 October 1996, adopted by the Council on the basis of Article K.3 of the Treaty on European Union, on the creation and maintenance of a Directory of specialized counter-terrorist competences, skills and expertise in the Member States of the European Union.
3) CONTENTS
1.The Council designated the United Kingdom as the Member State responsible for compiling, maintaining and disseminating a Directory of counter-terrorist competences. This task will subsequently be performed by the Member State which holds the Presidency.
The Member State responsible will appoint a particular office as Directory Manager.
Member States will send their contributions to the Directory Manager to be entered in the Directory.
The Directory Manager will be responsible for keeping statistics on the use of the Directory and will report to the Council twice a year on the effectiveness of the scheme.
