General Introduction
The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) is a network of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) advocating for a fair, effective and independent International Criminal Court (ICC).
The Coalition for the ICC and its members have been actively supporting the establishment of the Court for 10 years, and are engaged in a range of activities - from participating in expert consultations on ICC-related matters to advocating for broader national support for and cooperation with the Court.
Since its inception in February 1995, the Coalition has grown to include over 2,000 NGOs from all regions of the world and many sectors of global civil society, including human rights, the rights of women and children, peace, international law, humanitarian assistance, the rights of victims, and religion. These groups are united in their support for a fair, effective and independent ICC and have made a significant contribution at all stages of the process, from the Preparatory Committee to the Rome Conference, from the UN Preparatory Commission for the ICC to the Assembly of States Parties.
The CICC has its Headquarters in New York with a smaller office based in The Hague.
