How do I change the language?
There are two ways to change the language on the website:
- You can change the page you are currently viewing (and only this page) from English to French and from French to English by clicking on the [EN] or [FR] keys beside the title. In this case, the next page you visit will revert to the initial language.
- If you want to change the language for all the pages you consult, you can select [EN] or [FR] on the top right corner of the page. If you select a language through this function, all the pages you consult during your visit will be in this language.
What is in the event calendar?
The Event Calendar of the Hague Justice Portal announces interesting and important events occurring in The Hague and related to peace and justice.
Four types of events taking place in The Hague are listed in this calendar:
- Legal events (such as important court hearings)
- Lectures and speeches
- Conferences
- Courses
You can be kept updated on those events related to international peace and justice by registering for Hague Justice Portal email alerts and selecting “Events” as information you wish to receive.

How can I become a member of an academic community?
Academic communities are set up upon the request of a research group. If you would like to be accepted to join this study group, contact the research group in question. For further information, please contact the editors.
How can I react to information published on the Portal?
There are two ways to react to information published on the Hague Justice Portal:
- If you want comment, exchange ideas and seek answers from peers on a variety of issues, please join the conversation in the International Justice Forum
- If you want to inform only the editorial team of the Hague Justice Portal of your comments, please send an e-mail to the editors.
How can I receive email alerts?
To receive email alerts: register to the Hague Justice Portal.
You can select the type of information you wish to receive by choosing from the following categories:
- Vacancies: A weekly update on all vacancies available in Hague-based international organisations, NGOs, and other institutions working in the
field of international justice
- News: to receive email notification of news items published on the Portal
- Events/All: receive notification of upcoming events listed in the Event Calendar of the Portal
- Conferences: receive notification of conferences organised in The Hague and related to international peace and justice
- Courses: receive notification of courses organised in The Hague and related to international peace and justice topics
- Lectures and speeches: receive notification of lectures and speeches taking place in The Hague and related to international peace and justice
- Legal events: receive notification of the most important legal events taking place in The Hague (i.e. sentencing hearings before one the
international courts)
- Commentaries: receive notification each time the Portal publishes analysis on a topic related to recent legal news

What kind of information can I find?
The Hague Justice Portal is divided in three main sections.
The News and Events section is dedicated to the day-to-day activities of the international courts, tribunals and organisations in The Hague. This includes articles on the latest news and an event calendar containing conferences and hearings occurring in The Hague.
The Academic Research section is an extensive database of court documents, academic commentaries, factsheets and publications related to international public and criminal law. Those documents can be browsed by organisations and case, country and region, or by topic. The Hague Justice Journal is also accessible from this section. Visitors to the website can make use of the search engine to directly access a document.
The Hague section presents international organisations and tribunals, NGOs and all the academic institutions based in The Hague and working in the field of international justice. A Vacancies page, updated weekly, provides information on new job and internship opportunities within these institutions.
Where can I find a court document?
Court documents from all the international tribunals based in The Hague (as well as others) are available from the Academic Research/Research files section page.
You can browse case names by organisation, countries and region, or browse topics and sub-topics. Court documents are classified by organisation and by case.
Where can I find information about a specific case?
Every case before the international tribunals has a presentation page on the Portal from which you can access a broad range of data, including court documents, factsheets, related news items and commentaries by preeminent academics.
These presentation pages are accessible in the Academic Research/Research files section. Under “Organisations”, click on the relevant court and select the name of the case or the accused individual to access the presentation page.
Visitors to the website can also make use of the search engine to directly access a specific document.
Why should I register for the Portal?
By registering for the Hague Justice Portal you can receive regular news updates, notification of upcoming legal events and conferences in The Hague and information about job and internship vacancies in the city. Your private information will not be shared with third parties and you may deregister at any time.

What is the Hague Justice Portal?
The Hague Justice Portal is a gateway to information, news and research on the Hague organisations in the fields of international peace, justice and security. It improves access to the Hague courts, tribunals and organisations and encourages academic debate.
The Hague Justice Portal was created by The Hague Academic Coalition, a consortium of academic institutions based in The Hague. It is an independent website, designed for researchers, lawyers, PhD or master students and any one else working in or interested in the fields of international public and criminal law.
The editorial team is composed of qualified professionals holding degrees in international relations or international law.
