Florence Hartmann at her Initial AppearanceThe date has been set for the Pre-Trial Conference in the case of Florence Hartmann - the former spokesperson of the previous Chief Prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). This Pre-Trial Conference on 5 February 2009 will be immediately followed by the start of the trial.

The trial itself is schedule to take place over just two days: 5 and 6 February 2009.

On 27 August 2008, the ICTY issued an Order in lieu of an indictment against Florence Hartmann, former spokesperson for the former ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte, on two counts of contempt of the Tribunal.

Florence Hartmann made a 'Further Appearance' (after initially appearing before the Tribunal on 27 October 2008) on 14 November 2008. On this occasion a plea of not guilty was entered on her behalf pursuant to Rule 62(A)(iv) of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence.

Contempt of court charges were filed against the former spokesperson after she published information about two confidential decisions of the Appeals Chamber in the case against the late Slobodan Milošević.

Proceedings in cases of contempt of court are considerably shorter than other cases tried before the Tribunal.
